Yoli Better Body System Review

Yoli Better Body System Review
5.3 Total Score
Reading Time: 6 minutesThe Yoli Better Body System was founded in 2009, and is a health and wellness program that is meant to last for 28 days. Each kit contains a variety of products that help with your transformation, as well as a meal card and guide to help you get started on the program. The Aztec word for “living,” Yoli aims to help people reconstruct their overall habits. [1]  There are four different meal plans to choose from, depending on your target weight. The first meal plan is designed for a target weight of 125 pounds, the second for 125-160 pounds, the third for 151-179 pounds, and the fourth for over 180 pounds.   The company offers a variety of products both as individual supplements, and in multi-product kits. Individual products range in price from $35 to $150 each, and the kits range from $80 to $340. You can buy as a regular customer, a preferred customer, or a member—each level offers different discounts. [2]  The Yoli Better Body System meal plan also lines up how you eat depending on the range you want to reach, and how many of each supplement you should take with the type of foods like a protein or fruit each day.   Yoli’s tagline is: “ We transform lives physically, emotionally, and financially.”  Why financially? Because they’re a multi-level-marketing (MLM) company—a “pyramid” you can join, which can potentially help you make money if you get other people to purchase Yoli products and kits. You can sign up for Yoli’s travel plan, learn about their car compensations, and get more information on how to join a team. You will be spending your own money for product, though, which you will then have to sell in order to make any income.   Yoli LLC does have a profile on the Better Business Bureau website, and it has an A-plus rating—but one reason a lot of MLMs maintain A-plus ratings is because they claim no liability or responsibility for their distributors. The BBB profile lists 15 customer complaints in 8 years of business; 11 of those have to do with advertising, billing, or return/refund issues. Not terribly surprising with this form of company.

The Science (or Lack Thereof) Behind Yoli Better Body System

Yoli doesn’t cite any science behind their products on their website; most of the site is dedicated to selling product and selling the associate/pyramid program.  So let’s check the science ourselves: Is an alkaline diet beneficial?  According to WebMD consultant Dr. Melinda Ratini: Possibly, but not for the reason it claims to.

First, a little chemistry: A pH level measures how acid or alkaline something is. A pH of 0 is totally acidic, while a pH of 14 is completely alkaline. A pH of 7 is neutral. Those levels vary throughout your body. Your blood is slightly alkaline, with a pH between 7.35 and 7.45. Your stomach is very acidic, with a pH of 3.5 or below, so it can break down food. And your urine changes, depending on what you eat — that’s how your body keeps the level in your blood steady.  The alkaline diet claims to help your body maintain its blood pH level. In fact, nothing you eat is going to substantially change the pH of your blood. Your body works to keep that level constant.  But the foods you’re supposed to eat on the alkaline diet are good for you and will support a healthy weight loss: lots of fruits and vegetables, and lots of water. Avoiding sugar, alcohol, and processed foods is healthy weight-loss advice, too.  As to the other health claims, there’s some early evidence that a diet low in acid-producing foods like animal protein (such as meat and cheese) and bread and high in fruits and veggies could help prevent kidney stones, keep bones and muscles strong, improve heart health and brain function, reduce low back pain, and lower risk for type 2 diabetes. But researchers aren’t sure of some of these claims yet. [9]

Calcium is essential for healthy bones and for preventing painful kidney stones, but some studies have linked calcium supplements to an increased risk of kidney stones. Calcium carbonate, the ingredient in Yoli’s Alkalete, is an inorganic form of calcium, and as such presents that higher risk of kidney stones—and the Supplement Facts label doesn’t say how much calcium carbonate is in it. Studies have shown daily doses over 500 mg increase the risk of kidney stones. From the Harvard Health Review:

Getting too little calcium in your diet can cause oxalate levels to rise and cause kidney stones. To prevent this, make sure to take in an amount of calcium appropriate to your age. Ideally, obtain calcium from foods, since some studies have linked taking calcium supplements to kidney stones. [10]

Word On The Street About The Yoli Better Body System

When looking for off-site Yoli Better Body System Reviews, there are some. On Amazon, the product description says this kit can help you lose anywhere from 7-15 pounds in just one week’s time. Let’s see what real customers had to say about it, though.   “jane marynus” (2016, 3 stars) said,

“Very slow shipping. Did not get to pick flavor of Passion. Disliked it. Very little guidance. The price was over priced. Liked the shakes, pure and alkalite.” [11]
“J diaz” (2015, 3 stars) said,
Severe UTI! Concept of the product was great! I did lose weight but after 2 weeks I developed a severe UTI from all the caffeine in the product!! This buyer is great though. Refunded all $ after this happened!!! [12]
Regarding the Alkalete product specifically, “Neenapatt” (2013, 1 star) said,
This product is a scam. What they don’t tell you is you have to take 1 tablet for every 25 pounds you weigh a day. That should be said up front if you a person that weighs 160 that’s 7 pills for the day oh wait your bottle only has 60 capsules REALLY do the math you have enough for almost 9 days. This product sucks. [13]
There are some good reviews, but the praises barely outweigh the pans.

The Bottom Line: Is Yoli Better Body System Worth A Try?

Risky. When looking to see if Yoli’s Better Body System really has helped people lose weight it came up short. For the incredibly high price, and with so many different moving parts to the program, there are several red flags. And Yoli seems more interested in getting you to sign up to sell their stuff—as any multi-level-marketing company will be—than in informing potential customers about the program. None of the Yoli Better Body System recipes were visible to the potential purchasing customer, so it was hard to get a read on what a normal day would look like. The website was full of videos packed mostly with “fluff,” making it hard to get an accurate read on the effectiveness of the product. The company does offer support and they don’t force you into any autoship programs. No one complained about the taste of any of the products, but some of them were said to be not effective—in particular, Alkalete.  But when looking deeper into the company model overall, they push the multi-level-marketing pyramid on people. Affiliates are required to order product every month—which is not cheap, when you’re trying to sell product and recruit others to join at the same time.   This is a massive company with a massive business model—yet the customers are not raving about the product. Try Yoli Better Body System at your own risk.
