LIPO 6 Review

LIPO 6 Review
5.7 Total Score
Reading Time: 5 minutes LIPO 6 by Nutrex Research is a diet pill that has been said to help one lose large amounts of weight and fat in a short amount of time. It was first released in 2005, and was the first liquid capsule diet pill to hit the market. [1] These pills have been said to be fast acting and quick absorbing. In one bottle you will get 120 capsules, and recommended dosage is no more than 4 capsules per day. On the bottle it says to take 2 capsules 30 minutes before breakfast, and then 2 more capsules in the afternoon. The company does not just produce one type of LIPO 6 pill, however, as there are several others, like LIPO 6 Black, LIPO 6 Hers, and LIPO 6 Ultra Concentrate. In this review I will be focusing primarily on the original LIPO 6 product. For one bottle it will cost $44.95 before shipping.

LIPO 6 Claims

There are large claims made on the website regarding the effectiveness of this diet pill and how it is supposed to make you feel. It is time to get informed about their claims, the science, and the ingredients that could potentially be harmful when taking a product like LIPO 6. The company quotes, “Over the years LIPO-6 has established itself as a proven and reliable tool to support weight loss. It works great, no matter if you are a man or woman, fitness enthusiast or bodybuilder. LIPO-6 utilizes all natural vegetable capsules which are completely devoid of any animal derived gelatin materials.” [1]   Regarding the LIPO 6 Black Ultra Concentrate, they say “EXTREME CAUTION ADVISED: This is by far the strongest LIPO-6 we have ever released. It’s so strong that you can never take more than one pill. This is an ultra concentrated super potent one pill only fat loss aid that is designed to assist your body in rapid weight loss.” [2] This product is currently for sale at $34.95, which doesn’t surprise me because it just looks plain scary. It is supposed to give you energy as well, and that is most likely because of the high level of caffeine present in each pill.   They don’t make any other real claims about the product itself past what is stated above, but there is a lot to unpack within those statements such as why they say it is a strong diet pill, why it supposedly works (or doesn’t) and why it is a reliable tool when it is all said and done. Regarding their return policy they say, “Our Return Policy lasts for 30 days from the time your order is received for all unused/unopened item(s)/product(s). If 30 days have expired since you received your purchase, unfortunately we can’t return the item(s)/product(s) to offer you a refund or exchange. Please contact Customer Service before returning your order.” [3]  On the bottle there are warnings left and right about not taking the product for over 8 weeks’ time, cautioning use if you take certain medications or have health issues, and making sure you cover any use with your doctor first. Due to high levels of caffeine, pregnant or breastfeeding women are not advised to take this supplement.

The Science (or Lack Thereof) Behind LIPO 6

There are large claims made with very little evidence backing it up on the main website. Sure, you can claim a diet pill works fast and effectively, but why does it work this way? After looking into the ingredient list and taking into consideration the side effects and facts behind the ingredients, there came answers. First of all, I wanted to take a look at the ingredient synephrine HCI, which is also known as bitter orange. It is native to Africa and Asia and it is used for a variety of things, one being weight loss. [5] Because bitter orange contains synephrine, it is said to be similar to ephedra which is another popular weight loss ingredient. However, ephedra is only meant to work for the short term, which leads me to believe that this ingredient does the same.   According to an article named “Bitter Orange and Caffeine Combo May Be Unsafe” by Nathan Gray,

“Sports supplements and weight loss products that contain a combination of caffeine and synephrine from bitter orange may not comply with current regulations and could be classified as unsafe, warns the BfR.” [6]

It goes on to say that both of these substances together may influence the cardiovascular system in an unhealthy way. These are two of the main ingredients found in LIPO 6, so if you have any history of cardiovascular distress, it may not be safe for you.   So we known that caffeine gives you energy and is not safe at concentrated levels, which is why you should heed caution when thinking of taking a supplement like LIPO 6. Each capsule is full of about 200 mg of caffeine. You are easily going to go over the limit each day if you add a cup of coffee to the mix. But what about the ingredient guggulssterones? Some have heard of it, and others have not. It is simply a very powerful herb that is grown in India, and most commonly used to stimulate the thyroid.  According to Body Building,

“When the thyroid gland is stimulated, it produces more thyroid hormones such as thyroxin. These thyroid hormones have a profound effect on the rate of metabolism including a direct catabolic effect on adipose tissue. Practically, this means that guggulsterones will stimulate your thyroid to produce more thyroid hormones which in turn will raise your metabolic rate and burn more fat!” [7]

This natural plant steroid is nothing to take lightly though, as it does come with side effects.

“Guggul extract should not be taken with warfarin, aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or any other drugs that inhibit blood clotting. Guggul extract may increase the risk of severe or uncontrolled bleeding when taken with these drugs.” [8]

Other side effects can include headaches, nausea, gastrointestinal distress, and rashes. These few ingredients alone were enough to prove there are indeed side effects that will occur when you take the LIPO 6 product. Science and studies have shown that it is not safe for everyone to consume, especially after reading the side effects from synephrine and bitter orange together.

Word On The Street About LIPO 6

Taking a deeper dive into legitimate reviews on this product was not an easy task, especially for how available it is in many different retail locations. It is one thing to read about the ingredients individually, but another to look into reviews from people who have consumed this diet pill. When looking at LIPO 6 reviews and LIPO 6 Black Ultra reviews, it was evident that this is no ordinary garcinia cambogia diet pill. You will notice side effects, ineffectiveness, and the fear of taking the supplement too long. The overall vibe from the basic LIPO 6 was also almost non existent with little to no customer feedback.   J student (5.5.13, 3 star) said,

“ It depends on what you’re expecting out of the drug. I have a tolerance to caffeine so I didn’t experience any jitters (without thinking one day I drank coffee while on it, bad idea). For me it worked as a mild laxative and gave me an extra edge when working out and on the scale at the end of the week.” They also went on to say that they would not recommend taking this supplement long term. [9
In regards to the Ultra Concentrate, Samantha Osioh (7.15.2017, 2 star) said,
“They are not kidding when the description says it’s their strongest formula. I’m not sure if my body is used to it but it is not for the faint of heart. I had an intense workout about 2 hours ago and I’m feeling very lightheaded and nauseous. I normally don’t feel this way after my workouts Be careful taking this!” [10]

The Bottom Line- Is LIPO 6 Worth A Try?

Risky. When I think of LIPO 6, I think of stimulants. You are going to experience side effects from taking this supplement, there is no doubt about it. If you are taking any medication that could interfere that is also another topic of concern. This isn’t a productive method to weight loss, as you should not even take it longer than 8 weeks due to how harsh the formula is. This is not a product I would endorse, or feel comfortable taking myself! You are signing up for major stimulation with shaky results, which is not convincing enough to give this specific product line the green light.
