Jack3d Advanced Formula Review

Jack3d Advanced Formula Review
Reading Time: 7 minutes Jack3d Advanced Formula is a central nervous system (CNS)Stimulant Pre-Workout Supplement, produced by USPLabs, LLC, designed for increased muscle mass and workout focus. It’s a reworking of a product that was discontinued in 2013 because of the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) ban on 1,3-Dimethylamylamine HCl (DMAA) because of reported and potentially life-threatening liver damage. [1] The Advanced Formula came out in 2013—presumably after the ban—and has been completely reworked, though it still claims pretty much everything the original did. We’ll look at those claims in a moment. USPLabs, LLC, is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. It started in 2006 and opened a Better Business Bureau (BBB) profile in 2010. It currently has no rating, because of a pending Government Action related to the original formula. [2] Contact information: 10761 King William Drive, Dallas, Texas, 75220-2445. Phone (469) 484-1927. Jack3d Advanced Formula comes in a 45-serving tub for around $25-45, depending on where you buy it. There are five flavors to choose from: Fruit Punch, Watermelon, Blue Raspberry, Pineapple, and Dragonberry. Directions on the container state: Mix 1 Ultra-Concentrated Scoop (5.5 grams) with 120 ml [4 oz.] of cold water and consume 30-45 minutes prior to resistance training. Do this the first 3 times using the product. Beginning with the 4th use, if needed, you may gradually increase serving by a half scoop (2.75 grams), up to a total of 2 full scoops. Do not under any circumstances exceed 2 scoops in any 24 hour period or use more than 5 days in any 7 day period. Consume at least 3.7 L [125 oz.] of liquid per day for men and 2.7 L [67.5 oz.] of liquid per day for women. …[3]

Jack3d Advanced Formula Claims

You’re no stranger to the weight room and you’ve surely tried your fair share of pre-workout products. You might not even care what the product tastes like, as long as it works. Most of the time it’s even a disappointing trade off-great taste with nothing but poor performance and a sub-par caffeine rush followed by a depressing crash. …What if there was a product that Worked Phenomenally AND Tasted Amazing too? Enter Jack3d “Advanced Formula.” USPlabs contracted industry-leading flavor scientists and gave them one very specific goal: make this the best tasting pre-workout ever and, wow, did they ever deliver. Don’t forget that there aren’t any carbs in Jack3d “Advanced Formula;” making the “industry-best” taste a truly mindboggling accomplishment. [4] The best just got better! We took the Jack3d back to drawing board and built it from the ground up and what we have come up with is nothing short of amazing. Though DMAA was never actually proven unsafe we took the groundless threats as a challenge and decided to take the high road and just do some good ole fashioned hard work and research to provide our loyal fans with a viable replacement for the original version and we truly believe we have been successful! [3] I never equated following the law to “taking the high road,” but okay. For the record, the FDA ban on DMAA was in response to hundreds of reports of consumer injury from taking them, most notably liver damage so severe transplants were needed. So it was a preemptive ban—designed to prevent damage and save lives before they were lost. It raised a stink in the bodybuilding world, and the FDA is still battling one last holdout company, but the ban has held through a number of court appeals, so there we are. [1] One more claim: Jack3d Adavanced Formula is mainly for endurance during resistance training, but because resistance training is a big part of successful fat loss, …this is definitely a workout geared mainly towards energy and users attacking fat loss. Obviously, it can be used to build muscle, and it’s really your diet that matters most, but this product is slightly more on the energy and endurance side than the “pump” side. Being zero calorie / zero carb, it definitely won’t add pounds to the scale on its own. All other things considered equal, with Jack3d Advanced, youll likely lose more weight and burn more fat than if youd taken nothing pre workout. But again, it comes down to your diet and workout plan. [5] (emphasis added)

The Science Behind Jack3d

Beta-alanine is known around the diet and supplement world to help accelerate muscle growth upon consumption, which is why it was added to their supplement. According to BodyBuilding.com, Although only recently brought to the forefront, beta-alanine was discovered over 100 years ago. Also known as 3-aminopropanoic acid, it is a non-essential amino acid and is the only naturally occurring beta-amino acid. Not to be confused with alanine, beta-alanine is classified as a non-proteinogenic amino acid as it is not used in the building of proteins. [6] Researchers seem to have found science to back up the claims. A 2012 meta-analysis—a study pulling together several previous studies and trial results to try to make an overall conclusion about a specific subject—published in Amino Acids concluded: To our knowledge, this is the first meta-analysis to be published on this topic and it shows that there is a significant effect of [beta]-alanine supplementation on all exercise measures when taken as a single group. Analysis indicates that supplementation with a total of 179 g of [beta]-alanine (the median dose across all studies) would result in a median improvement of 2.85% compared with a placebo. … if this improvement was extrapolated and applied to a sporting event lasting around 4 min, such as a 1,500 m run, performance time would be improved by [approximately] 6 [seconds]. This improvement would be sufficient to move the last place finalist in the mens 1,500 m at the Beijing 2008 Olympic games to a bronze medal position. It should be noted that this calculation is based upon the median effect across several studies, and the vast majority of participants in the studies of this meta-analysis are recreationally active individuals rather than elite athletes. From the data available to date, it can be concluded that [beta]-alanine supplementation elicits a significant ergogenic effect on high-intensity exercise, particularly in exercise capacity tests and measures, and where the exercise lasts between 1 and 4 min. Areas which warrant further investigation due to the borderline efficacy of [beta]-alanine, i.e., exercise lasting over 240 [seconds], have also been highlighted. This meta-analysis has shown that exercise performance tests and measures, and exercise of less than 60 [seconds] duration are not improved by [beta]-alanine supplementation. [7] (emphasis added) Yohimbe is generally used as a treatment for erectile dysfunction and other sexual problems, but there is some evidence it may have weight-loss or properties for lowering blood pressure. However, there are also side effects. WebMD.com has this to say, after noting that while it’s used …[to] arouse sexual excitement, for erectile dysfunction (ED), sexual problems caused by medications for depression called selective-serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and general sexual problems in both men and women. It is also used for athletic performance, weight loss, exhaustion, chest pain, high blood pressure, low blood pressure that occurs when standing up, diabetic nerve pain, and for depression along with certain other medications. … Yohimbe, taken by mouth, is POSSIBLY UNSAFEYohimbe has been linked to reports of severe side effects including irregular or rapid heart beat, kidney failure, seizure, heart attack, and others. The primary active ingredient in yohimbe is a drug called yohimbine. This is considered a prescription drug in North America. This drug can be safely used short-term when monitored by a health professional. However, it is not appropriate for unsupervised use due to potentially serious side effects that it can cause. [9] (emphasis added) Citrulline, also known as L-citrulline, has an interesting and very logical function for fitness, according to WebMD. But it does come with a slight reality check: L-citrulline boosts nitric oxide production in the body. Nitric oxide helps your arteries relax and work better, which improves blood flow throughout your body. … Some people also take L-citrulline to build muscles and improve athletic performance. But research shows it does not help well-trained athletes perform or exercise better[10]Pinuspinaster is French Maritime Pine. While the bark is used as an herbal supplement, in reading through the literature I really couldn’t find anything it’s used for that would make me jump to use it in a performance enhancer. USPLabs may have a perfectly logical reason, but they don’t share it. [11]Schisandrachinensis (five-flavor berry) fruit is used …as an “adaptogen” for increasing resistance to disease and stress, increasing energy, and increasing physical performance and endurance. … for improving vision, protecting against radiation, preventing motion sickness, preventing infection, boosting energy at the cellular level, counteracting the effects of sugar, and improving the health of the adrenal glands. The chemicals in schisandra improve liver function by stimulating enzymes (proteins that speed up biochemical reactions) in the liver and promoting liver cell growth. [12]WebMD says that it is possibly effective for mental performance—concentration, speed of thinking—but there’s currently insufficient evidence for it as an exercise performance enhancer. They also indicate it’s “possibly safe” to take appropriately—note that—but caution should be taken if you’re epileptic, have ulcers or reflux, or if you’re pregnant or nursing. [12] And finally, Rhodiolarosea, which is also known as Arctic Root, King’s Crown, and about a dozen other names. It’s used as another “adaptogen,” but according to WebMD: Rhodiola is used for many conditions, but so far, there isn’t enough scientific evidence to determine whether or not it is effective for any of them. Rhodiola is used for increasing energy, stamina, strength and mental capacity; and as a so-called “adaptogen” to help the body adapt to and resist physical, chemical, and environmental stress. It is also used for improving athletic performance, shortening recovery time after long workouts, improving sexual function; for depression; and for heart disorders such as irregular heartbeat and high cholesterol. Rhodiola is POSSIBLY SAFE when taken by mouth, short-term (for up to 6-10 weeks). The safety of long-term use is not known. The potential side effects of rhodiola are not known. [13] So overall, there’s nothing Jack3d Advanced Formula that’s screaming “Mayday!” Starting slow with it to see how your body reacts is always a wise supplement practice, and you should always be transparent with your doctor about what you’re taking and follow the supplement instructions and warnings exactly.

Word On The Street About Jack3d Advanced Formula

I made sure the reviews I found were from the new Advanced Formula, not the original now-banned version. The buzz is pretty good; although it’s not sold on Amazon, reviews from the Bodybuilding.com web shop average 8.7 out of 10 stars (286 total ratings). We’ll look at a spectrum of reviews from verified buyers. “xzibito” (2014, verified buyer) gave it 9/10 stars: the product is good the best part about this stuff is that they don’t use artificial chemical colouring and they tell you exactly how much caffeine is in every scoop. [14] “pnut152” (2015, 5/10 stars, verified buyer) said, Bursting pumps, ridiculous energy and massive gains are NOT what you will get with this product. I am a very experienced bodybuilder and competitor and this product really didn’t do all that it advertised for me personally. The one thing I do like about it, is that it doesn’t make me sick to my stomach or create that sickeningly jittery feeling. Good product but only as a supplement to hard training and clean diet. [14] And on the lower end, “hhunter86” (2014, 2/10 stars, verified buyer) said, I wanted to try a new pre-workout, so I gave this a shot. Unlike my preferred brand … this one is like taking an extended-release pre-workout. It doesnt give you a jolt of energy, but you feel it working all day long. You feel it working to the point where hours after your workout, you dont want to eat. I love food, and this was a serious problem. There was also a slight lingering pain in my stomach when I used this too. Like I was coming down off some sort of crack binge. Of course, I followed directions and everything. Tried to use three times, but just ended up giving it [to] a buddy and going back to my normal pre-workout. [14] Every supplement affects every individual differently. Gender, age, sometimes race, pre-existing medical conditions, and individual body chemistry—as unique as a fingerprint—can affect how a supplement works on you. That’s why supplements always add that “individual results may vary” disclaimer, and it’s why reviews for a drug or supplement can be all over the spectrum. Only you and your doctor can figure out how it works for you, so always be forthcoming and transparent with your doctor about side effects you experience, as well as if the substance doesn’t seem to be doing anything for you.

The Bottom Line: Is Jack3d Advanced Formula Worth a Try?

Worth a Try, but… Supplements like Jack3d are far more for performance during workouts than they are for weight loss, but it is a proven fact that resistance training helps you lose weight faster. So it may help, but if you’re not an intermediate or veteran of the gym, start slow to gauge how your body reacts to it. And keep your doctor in the loop, in particular because of the yohimbe in this formula. Not knowing how much yohimbe is in each serving means it will be trial-and-error, and that should definitely include your doctor. Either way, Jack3d’s new advanced formula looks to be a winner without the dangerous and banned DMAA. Which gives it a plus in my book.
