Immortalitea Claims
The company claims that it keeps the harvest farmers at the forefront of their company. Regarding the Chinese and good health, they claim:
“After years of study the researchers discovered the locals had been keeping a secret. Instead of regular green tea, the locals drank an herbal tea they called, “the immortality herb.” Today in China it is called “Jiaogulan” and in the West, we call it, “Gynostemma.” Since then over 5,660 scientific studies prove the amazing longevity benefits of jiaogulan. No other herb does so much.” [3] “Improve your circulation to sleep like a baby and start your day with so much energy your grandkids can’t keep up with you, even if previously you haven’t had a good night’s sleep in years. (You may even find that sleeps not the only thing in the bedroom that’s improved.) Stop forgetting where you parked your car and feel the brain fog finally lift. Supercharge your immune system and power through Winter without a care in the world. Empower your body’s natural metabolic feedback system and stop worrying about fad diets and weight loss pills.” [3]
The company offers a 60-day money back guarantee on their products and claim,

The Science (or Lack Thereof) Behind Immortalitea
There have been thousands upon thousands of different studies done on the natural ingredient jiaogulan. While some people are skeptical about taking herbal supplements as a means of healing, there have been studies done to show jiaogulan can be effective for recouping health. A large topic of discussion is cancer and how this green product can help withstand the effects and onset of cancer in the body. Sadly, cancer is the leading cause of death in the world, and there is no projection of it slowing down. According to NCBI,
“Modern medical research has shown that GpM (Jiaogulan) exhibits a variety of pharmacological properties, including anti-inflammatory, anti oxidative, lipid metabolism regulatory, antiproliferative, neuroprotective and anxiolytic activities.”
In the study, they tested this ingredient against a variety of cancers in many stages. The results?
“In summary, GpM has been investigated extensively as a potent anti-cancer agent against many types of cancers both in vitro and in vivo. The general consensus from the literature is that GpM exerts its anticancer activities through multiple mechanisms, including cell cycle arrest, the induction of apoptosis, inhibition of invasion and metastasis, glycolysis inhibition and immunomodulation.” [4]
Please be mindful, I am not saying it will cure cancer, nor is this study. These are just proven facts from different studies that will provoke thought about this powerful tea which Chinese people have been drinking for hundreds, if not thousands of years. There are many proven benefits of taking jiaogulan, and the studies started in the 1960’s and 1970’s when there was light shed on how long the Chinese population in certain provinces were living. They would sip on jiaogulan tea every morning as part of their morning routine, and it provided a plethora of benefits. This herb has been said to increase your energy, boost your immunity, aid in digestion, improve your heart health, improve sleep, improve mood, as well as aid in anti-aging. [5] In another study done specifically on cancer research through NCBI,
“Furthermore, the results of several clinical studies have shown that GpM formula could have potential curative effects on cancer. Multiple mechanisms of action have been proposed regarding the anti-cancer activities of GpM, including cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, inhibition of invasion and metastasis, inhibition of glycolysis and immunomodulating activities.” [6]
The only side effects noted by the company were bouts of nausea and increased bowel movements, but take with caution as everyone’s bodies will react differently to a new herb. In regards to studies done on the effect of the herb in type 2 diabetics, the information was interesting to say the least. There were 24 patients who were studied and evaluated week after week while taking the herb. The results?
“There were no hypoglycemias, or adverse effects regarding kidney and liver parameters or gastrointestinal function. In addition, lipid profiles, glucagon, cortisol levels, body measurements, and blood pressure were not different between the groups. This study shows a prompt improvement of glycemia and insulin sensitivity, and thereby provides a basis for a novel, effective, and safe approach, using Gynostemma pentaphyllum tea, to treat type 2 diabetic patients.” [7]
As you can see from the above studies, this herb has been looked into, and people are continuing their research on it. The elderly who live in the mountainous region of Southern China described this herb as better than ginseng, and a natural boost in energy for the long days working the fields. These same people were also living disease free for over 100 years, so there truly is something to this. There are many stories of success that involve this herb.
back to menu ↑“Another story states that in a village near Fanjing Mountain in Guizhou province, the inhabitants would drink jiaogulan tea instead of the more common green tea and as a result many people there were living to 100 years of age. In 1972 the Research Group of Combined Traditional Chinese-Western Medicine of Qu Jing in Yunnan province did a study on the therapeutic effect of jiaogulan in 537 cases of chronic tracheobronchitis. This was the first report of medicinal usage of jiaogulan in modern Chinese medical literature.” [8]
Immortalitea Ingredients
The main website does not provide any ingredients to this specific tea, but there is one thing for certain; the ingredient jiaogulan is present. According to the website’s FAQ section, the active ingredient is jiaogulan, which has the chemicals called saponins as mentioned above which benefits the body in a variety of ways. They act as antioxidants, which then support energy production in the body, as well as stamina and endurance. [9]

When looking into different videos and reviews about this particular product, there were no free passes to praise. What I mean by that is the reviews were genuine, and they were educational for someone looking into buying this product. Not everyone likes tea, and not all herbs are safe for consumption, especially if you are taking medication etc. It is always best to check with your doctor first before you take any herbal supplements, no matter what the company claims is safe. A large majority of the customers who were taking this particular tea had positive reviews, but I will highlight some of the downfalls too. Keith (2017, 5 Star),
“Jiaogulan is a wonderful tea. I remember the first time I tried it in Vietnam; once I took the first sip I immediately felt it’s healthy properties. Balance and focus, I could feel it in my veins right away. The Immortalitea Company’s product is lovely. The tea leaves are top#1 quality. The customer service communication is excellent…most likely one of the best. The shipping speed is super efficient. The packaging keeps the product very fresh too. I am a very happy customer. Thank you.” [10]
Watson(2016, 4 star),
“A bit “grassy” but if you like green tea you’ll probably enjoy this also. I like it mostly because I think it’s helping me be more “regular” in bathroom. It could just be the higher water intake but either way I’m getting more!” [11]
Miroslav (2016, 2 star),
“After really enjoying the 30g sample size, I’ve ordered the largest 500g bag, to save myself of reordering hassle. Was very disappointed. The leaves were more brown than green and were full with dust. Brief 10-30 wash didn’t help. There would be so much dust settled on the bottom of the cup to completely cover the whole bottom and you can feel it on your tongue. Brewing and drinking Jiaogulan tea used to be enjoyment, now it is frustration.” [12]
When looking throughout the different reviews, there was a lot of mention about how happy people were, but also how dirty the tea seemed to be. This comment was mentioned multiple times by different customers regarding the “dirt” and “sand” taste that accumulates at the bottom of the cup. As it’s unpleasant, this could be a turnoff for someone looking to enjoy the taste and the benefits of this tea. Otherwise, there was a large majority of happy customers who felt like they were healthier overall when drinking the tea. This is not a tea intended for weight loss, but it can help you become healthier, which in turn might lead to some weight loss down the road.
back to menu ↑The Bottom Line: Is Immortalitea Worth A Try?
Yes. The teas themselves are good quality, even though there was word of them being somewhat “dirty” at the bottom of the glass. I don’t see a big enough risk with this company or product to say “why not give it a shot”, if you are interested in drinking a healthy tea. This particular ingredient has been studied a lot, and has not been said to be dangerous to your health by any means. The prices from the main website are reasonable, and the teas are also sold outside of the main website on popular sites such as Amazon. The founders of this company take care of their harvesters and the mission of the company seems like it has all good intentions. While I would not put my hope in a tea curing all ailments, it might just be the trick you need to get you on track for feeling better, so don’t be afraid to give it a shot. The only red flag from looking into this company is the lack of ingredients they show regarding their different products, as most customers want to see this information.
