Aren’t you overwhelmed by how many diet and weight loss solutions are out there? It seems literally, anywhere you look, there is an offer to buy some kind of a diet. And more often than not, they’re expensive too!

There has been extensive research done on this, and did you know that on Amazon alone there are over 18,000 different products marketed for weight loss? I personally find it astounding and shocking. I believe I am an expert in this space, and can tell you for certain, the world doesn’t need that many different diet products. The worst part is that most of them are worthless when it comes to actually helping you lose weight.

Since you’re reading this article, I’ll assume that you feel you have some weight to lose. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed and distrusting by all this diet craze and clutter. I don’t blame you.

Truth be told, the title is a bit misleading, “Best Diets..” Who can really tell you which ones are the best? A review website that recommends one specific product, while every review website recommends something different. How do you know if they are telling the truth? Maybe you saw an ad on the website, or on Facebook? Perhaps you saw a post on Instagram touting amazing weight loss benefits of tea, juice, protein drinks, or diet pills? Finally, you could have seen a cleanse, detox, or anything really….

The amount offered is simply astounding. Every day there is THE new, THE best solution coming out to take away all your weight loss problems. But ironically mostly your money.

But all you really want is an honest, reasonable way to shed those unwanted pounds. I understand the constant frustration. What I’ve learned, is that there is not ONE best diet, or ONE best exercise routine, or ONE best diet pill, protein bar or shake, or any other off the beaten path solution. No one can really tell you which one is ultimately the best.

However, there are certain rules and tricks to this madness. If the diet solution promotes healthy eating and good activity habits, and their supplementation (a pill, a shake or a liquid, whatever it is) is scientifically proven to be effective to help along with your weight loss, then, with the proper knowledge you can distinguish the good guys from the bad ones. The key is to know what, when, and how much to eat, and there are certainly a lot of things to know. Definitely more than I could ever tell you in this article alone.

There are a lot of good diets and weight loss solutions, some of the best are not as well known, and are overshadowed by aggressive marketing from companies that want to take your money and run, leaving you with a bunch of worthless pills. That approach time and time again has no effect whatsoever in reducing your weight.

There is a much better, simpler and quicker way to find the diet that is good for you, and will actually help you lose weight and maintain it afterwards. To find this diet, we simply need to eliminate the bad ones.

It is not as hard as you may think, you just need to follow these 5 rules:

Rule 1: Check how long the company has been in business!

Scams come and go, but legitimate businesses last for years because they are sustainable. It takes a good product and a good support to do that. Use 3 years in business minimum as a rule of thumb.

Don’t trust the reviews alone, these can be bought or fabricated, so before you buy, do yourself a favor and check how long they’ve been in business.

Rule 2: Check if they have good support group

Scams don’t bother putting in the effort to create strong support group for their customers. Mostly because the product does not work, and the support group would expose that.

Imagine a group of people saying that the product did little to nothing in helping them achieve what it was supposedly meant to do. Scams try to avoid that at all costs.

It can be a forum or a Facebook group. A place where customers can share their feedback, ideas and progress. Do yourself a favor and ask for evidence if they have strong customer support group.

Rule 3: Check their social accounts

Whether you like social media, or not, it is a strong signal that the business is legitimate. Scams might put on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter icons on their website, but you really need to take the time, and check these pages out for yourself.

You want to look not only for the number of followers on these social accounts, but also pay attention to the type of content is being posted, how often, and user engagement. Scams, if they have social accounts at all, usually don’t spend the time and effort to publish good, useful content. As a result, they have very little interaction with their audience. Poor content, few likes and comments is a signal that this product or company could be poor quality or a scam.

Rule 4: Check where the product is sold

You need to inquire if the product you’re interested in buying is sold anywhere else besides the seller’s website. It could be a retail store, or an online marketplace like Amazon.com.

Scams rarely sell their products outside their own website. The reason being, is that for the scam businesses it is either very hard to control negative customer feedback if the product is sold on Amazon, well because customer will write bad reviews, or their shady business model is simply not accepted anywhere else.

Imagine a business that lures customers in on the promise of “FREE” or “TRIAL” offer for a mere $4.95 shipping fee, and then few weeks later bills them for a hefty amount, and keeps on doing that until customer cancels their credit card. This type of business would never be accepted on a third-party marketplace like Amazon. Always ask where this product can be purchased besides the seller’s website.

Rule 5: Be Critical!

Put on your critic “glasses” on, and ask yourself who is endorsing this product. You might have found a review that says this product is good, then another review that says it is not that good, while you’re being recommended something else completely. It is great if you feel skeptical, you absolutely should!

Look at the bigger picture, and the scam signals I already mentioned. Look at the testimonials. Is it a picture of before and after of the people that may or may not have used the product? Could have they been paid to do so? Or is it a video testimonial done by paid actors? Trust your gut, if it does not feel genuine, it probably isn’t. Reviews can be deceiving, but ultimately it is up to you to decide if you want to trust your health and wallet to some scam business. Your health and money should not be taken lightly, and I hope these 5 tips will help you keep both.
