11 New Bucket List Items To Add To Your List

Reading Time: 3 minutes

The famous quote by William Ross, “Every man dies, but not every man lives” couldn’t be more true in this day and age. In today’s demanding society, we end up just wishing about the things we want to knock off of our bucket lists but never end up getting to them. By taking a chance to go on an adventure or two, and live out some of your childhood dreams it could be more positive than you ever imagined. Check out some of these amazing bucket list adventures, some you may have already completed and some you may want to add after reading this article!

Set Foot On All Seven Continents

Get your travel on, and try and slowly knock off setting foot on the seven continents with each international trip you embark on. The seven continents: Africa, Antarctica, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

The Northern Lights

Take a trip to see the Northern Lights. Stand and watch them as long as you get the opportunity to, and make a wish in the process. You can witness the Aurora Borealis in Northern Canada, Iceland, Finland, and parts of Norway.

Climb One Of the Seven Summits

Challenge yourself to climb one of the seven summits of the world. Even if you don’t make it to the very top, the attempt counts! Embark on this adventure with a friend or companion, and the memories will be endless. The Seven Summits: Mount Denali, Mount Mauna Kea, Mount Everest, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Aconcagua, Mount Vinson, and Mount Puncak Jaya. (I am confused as to why K2 hasn’t made this list yet, but maybe one day it will.)

Watch Baby Turtles Hatch and Set Them Free Into the Sea

This is an invigorating and breathtaking experience that I have been fortunate enough to participate in. Watching the baby sea turtles make their way out of the shell, and gravitate toward the crashing waves gives you a respect for nature. Sadly, many of the turtles die from the velocity of the waves throwing them onto the hard sand. You can always try and help them get past the crashing waves, which makes the experience even more special.

Run A Marathon

While this seems like a daunting task, it is a total bucket list item that only needs to be done once. Pick a fun destination with great goodie bag gifts, and start training!

Travel Alone

You can learn a lot about yourself by simply traveling alone for a week or two. Some people may say this is dangerous, but it doesn’t have to be dangerous at all. Be smart about the activities you participate in, the cities you visit, and the places you find yourself at night. Enjoy the time exploring a new place, and getting time to learn more about yourself.

Visit a Castle

Castles are prominent all over Europe, and their history is staggering to learn about. Take a tour through a defense castle, and understand the architecture and masterminds behind why the castles were constructed the way they were.

Swim With Sharks

You can tackle this bucket list item in a somewhat safe way (with cages). This is not an adventure for the faint of heart. Always go with a professional guide, to ease some of the nerves. Take time to learn how to scuba dive, and see the beautiful ocean life in the process. There is so much to see, and appreciate from our oceans.

Learn A New Language

With all of the wonderful learning tools out there we have the access to learning new languages. English is a very prominent language throughout the world, but you can add a lot of value to your life if you can speak in a different tongue than your native language. Have fun with it, and when you feel comfortable, take a trip to the countries in which the new language is spoken. Put yourself to the test!

Be A Mentor To Someone

Step outside of your own wants and needs for a second, and think of someone who could use your positive influence in their life. Mentoring someone can bring you a lifetime of happiness, and a friendship that will not fade. Being there for someone in a time of need, or just throughout life’s ups and downs is really what life is all about.

Do Volunteer Work

Whether you stay domestically, or go internationally to do volunteer work, it is an awesome bucket list item. Not only do you pick up valuable skills for your life, you help enrich others and enhancing their way of life.

No matter what your personal bucket list items are, always set goals and dream big. You never know what you are capable of seeing in this big and beautiful world. Go get out there, and knock some items off of your bucket list!
